Preferred Qualification and Experience:  

Preferably a postgraduate degree in Food Science/Technology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Crop Science, or a comparable competence.  

Ideally, 7 years of relevant experience in food product development, food processing, food safety management, storage, and preservation.  

Strong understanding of food chemistry, microbiology, and food preservation methods. Knowledge of food rules, safety standards, and industry certifications (e.g., ISO, FSSC, BRC).  

Preferably two years of foreign experience or work with international organisations such as ADB, World Bank, etc.  

The expert having expertise of being a part of the similar project in Pakistan, specifically province of would be an advantage for the KP. 

Tasks/Responsibilities:  

The Food Technology Specialist will use their knowledge of food science and technology to improve food processing, preservation, safety, and quality. The specialist will be responsible for creating and implementing innovative techniques, processes, and technologies to improve food production, shelf life, and nutritional value. 

Key responsibilities:  

Prepare training materials on food processing and preservation procedures.  

Build the capacities of master trainers by training on created and authorised curriculum/training.  

Provide backstopping support to master trainers in food processing and preservation during the training of farmers (women) in the project's target geographic areas.  

Tips for improving food processing procedures, increasing efficiency, and reducing waste while preserving product quality and safety.  

Provide feedback on quality control measures to ensure that food items satisfy regulatory standards and are consistent in quality.  

Advise and train female farmers on food safety legislation and industry best practices. Provide instruction on food safety procedures and hazard analysis. 

Recommend appropriate food packaging materials and technology to maintain product freshness, increase shelf life, and reduce environmental effect.  

Advice on sensory evaluations for determining the flavour, texture, and overall acceptability of food products. 

Provide advice on emerging trends, technology, and studies in the food business, and include these elements into training preparation and delivery.  

Monitor and assess the food processing training program, offer measures, and take actions for future development.
